Players of the Premier League
We’re already
well over halfway through the Premier League season, and the contenders for
this year’s most important and valuable player are emerging. Let’s take a look
at the top five players of the Premier League season so far – and don’t forget
to use Sport-App, the iOS football reminder app available for free on the App
store., so that you don’t miss these stars in action.
N’Golo Kante – Chelsea
He was the
engine that propelled Leicester towards their incredible title win last season,
and Kante looks set to do the same thing for his new club, Chelsea. He does the
dirty work in midfield, tidying up, making tackles and protecting his back four
– but he’s as technically gifted as any attacking midfielder, picking out vital
passes and consistently achieving high pass completion stats. If Chelsea walk
away with the title, will Kante be recognised as the
league’s most impactful player? Set your sports reminders now with SportApp.
Sadio Mane - Liverpool
Mane has eleven
goals and four assists in twenty-one Premier League appearances this season –
but it wasn’t until he was called away for the African Cup of Nations in
January that his value to Liverpool became clear. Liverpool didn’t win a single
match without him, but when he returned to the starting line-up in February, he
managed to put two past top four rivals Spurs to secure a much-needed victory
for Klopp’s team.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic – Manchester
United
He’s too old for
this league, they said. He’s been taking it easy in France, where the top team
routinely win the league by the end of March. He’ll never be able to cope with
the fast-paced, hard-hitting Premier League. As they have been many times
throughout Zlatan’s long career, the critics were wrong. The Swede is currently
one of the league’s top scorers with fifteen (just two behind the leader,
Alexis Sanchez), and he’s shown he can cut it in this tough league. He’s been
hailed as the natural successor to Eric Cantona – will he win the PFA Player of
the Year just like the mercurial Frenchman? Don’t miss Zlatan’s games – set

Dele Alli – Tottenham Hotspur
Alli is one of
England’s rising stars, and at just twenty years old, there’s plenty of time
for him to rise even further. He’s been a revelation for Spurs this season,
overcoming inconsistency issues that plagued him last year to provide regular
goals and assists. He famously scored a brace against Chelsea when Tottenham
stopped their record-equaling run of wins, and Spurs have never lost a game in
which he’s scored. He’s a vital asset, that’s for sure – but will he walk away
with the award?
Alexis Sanchez - Arsenal
Sanchez is
currently the league’s top scorer, despite Arsenal falling out of the title
race after Christmas. His unstoppable form has seen him bag sixteen goals and
nine assists in just twenty-two appearances, making him the most valuable and
impactful element in Arsenal’s attack. If he finishes the season as the
league’s most prolific forward, surely there’s a chance of him being voted the
year’s best player? Don’t miss any
