When Is The Next International Break?
International
breaks take place periodically through the season, with most leagues around
Europe and beyond paused to allow players to join their national teams for a
week or two. With the 2018 FIFA World Cup fast approaching, all the
international breaks are currently filled up with qualifiers to see which teams
will make it to the finals. With SportApp, the iOS and Android free app which
can be downloaded free on the App store or Google Play you can set all your
football reminders on the app.
This season,
we’ve already seen England overcome Malta 2-0, as well as knocking 3 past
arch-rivals Scotland in a tense match at Wembley. England also drew 0-0 away at
Slovenia, which was a disappointing result, but by no means disastrous in terms
of overall qualification.
So when is the
next international break? Prepare your football reminder apps – the next break
will take place on the weeks commencing 20th March and 27th
March. This means there’ll be no Premier League football for two weeks at the
end of the month, to allow international players sufficient time to recover.
The first match
is actually a friendly – though the atmosphere will be anything but. England’s
Lions will be heading off to Germany to play against one of the best-ranked
teams in the world, coming up against opponents like Thomas Muller, Manuel
Neuer, Mats Hummels and İlkay Gündoğan. Though the result of this match won’t
affect qualification, both teams will be using it as a valuable opportunity to
scope out a dangerous opponent. The Germany vs England game takes place on the
22nd March 2017, at 7:45pm.
England then
return home to Wembley to host relative footballing minnows, Lithuania. This is
a game the home team should certainly expect to win – the Lithuanian
international team largely play their domestic football in the lesser leagues
of Russia, Poland and Latvia, rather than the powerhouse leagues of England, Spain
and Germany. However, the England team will need to put out a powerful first
eleven to ensure the result, rather than risking the win to give younger
players their debut. The England vs Lithuania game takes place on 26th
March 2017 at 5pm –SportApp, the sports reminder app, allows you to set up
alerts so you won’t miss this crucial fixtures.
There are also
international fixtures just after the domestic season finishes this year. The
10th June will see the return leg of the game against Scotland –
sure to be a fiery battle between the two close rivals. England emphatically
beat Scotland at Wembley last year, and will be looking to get another one over
on their UK opponents. The game kicks off at 5pm on the 10th June –
be sure to set up your football reminders beforehand.
England will
also play another big friendly to round out the season, heading over to Paris
to play a gala game against France. Expect to see big French names from the
Premier League, including Anthony Martial, Paul Pogba, Dimitri Payet (now at
Marseille after leaving West Ham), Hugo Lloris and Olivier Giroud – as well as
English players like Wayne Rooney, Adam Lallana and Joe Hart.
